Songs by Jewish artists

Between 1890 and 1960, Dutch artists eagerly made use of the phenomenon of sheet music to gain a mass audience for their songs and talks. Publishing sheet music was easier and more effective than recording a disc.
Since a seductive cover was needed to ‘sell’ a song, designers and artists were hired in. Additionally, the sheet music illustrations provided a view of the developments in society, the latest art trends, fashion and even the nightlife of the time – a picture of days long gone, the time when gracious and captivating women and charming men still danced the foxtrot, tango and Charleston.
