The Jewish Museum has an impressive collection of 70.000 photos, and most have never been on display. For this special exhibition our friend and curator Bernadette van Woerkom sat down with Victor to make a selection of 300 photographs that would feature in this show. They decided to honor 46 photographers and show a small selection of their work, to use this as an overview of Jewish life in the Netherlands from the 1930s to the present day.

 It’s constructed as a journey through time, from documentary black-and-white photography of pre-war street scenes in Amsterdam’s Jewish quarter, via the persecution of Jews during the Second World War, to the post-war reconstruction of Jewish life. Their work reflects upon themes such as Jewish identity, memories of the Holocaust, and antisemitism. Their images tell the stories of today.
